Mumbai designed by Doriana + Massimiliano Fuksas for Haworth
With slim lines and modern simplicity, Mumbai can enrich any environment. The desk's unique shape, materials and technologies build up the exclusiveness of design. A basic design intuition developed into following one single line that runs and links to itself - an innovative exploitation of a traditional material which is bent to the limit of its mechanical characteristics.
|
Sophisticated folding technologies emphasize the characteristics of the veneered
plywood and enhance the lightness of its shape. The surface of Mumbai bends
and redoubles, thus creating a blank space that becomes the center of the
table. A plywood sheet, folded up to the limits of the material's mechanical
characteristics, defines and encloses a lattice structure made of laser cut steel - a
light and discreet architectural "heart" that supports a thin shell.
