Intexure Architects: Architecture of Authenticity

Intexure Architects is a residential and commercial design firm founded by husband and wife
team Russell and Rame Hruska. Their work is firmly rooted in the modern aesthetic. However,
rather than thinking about their work simply in terms of “style” they follow certain principles
about design aimed at creating architecture appropriate to its time and place. Authenticity
is all about honestly expressing the structure and materials, says the pair. Their spaces have
an open feeling, with large amounts natural light, and connections between indoor and
outdoor spaces. There is an elegant simplicity in the clean lined design, but they also
bring in elements of warmth and livability through the use of natural materials.

Their high end residential design has garnered much attention. The Houston Chronicle named
the Ramchandani Residence the “Ultimate Dwelling”. The 6,000 square foot home in Royal
Oaks features arcing cast concrete walls, and soaring steel and glass great room opening
up to an expansive back yard. Another home, the Spain-Strombom Residence in West
University is a modest 2,800 square feet, yet feels much larger and is filled with high quality
well executed details throughout.

Intexure Architects has also designed and built a series of small urban homes in the Museum
Park neighborhood adjacent to their studio with their design build partner, Intexure Homes.

flexibility of true architectural services paired with the turn key convenience of design-built.
Close ties to construction help inform all our work, says Russell, whether the project is
construction as design build or not, we have the experience to evaluate budget,
schedule, and details throughout the design process.

Sustainability is also a key aspect of Intexure’s work. Their homes are designed to LEED
standards and integrate elements such as careful building orientation, overhangs,
enhanced insulation, energy efficiency, and recycled content materials. Several of
their homes have also utilized Geothermal systems. Intexure’s design for the City of
Houston Green Building Resource center was award LEED Gold for Commercial interiors.
Our greatest achievement is happy clients says Rame. We build great working
relationships throughout the process and seeing spaces come to life for our clients
is tremendously rewarding. Intexure’s approach of authentic and integrity in design
